Hi guys! I’m Sarah, a first year Geog student and here’s why I’m running for SingSoc Secretary!

Being a SingSoc committee member is meaningful as it represents the heart of UCL’s Singaporean family. I want to play a part in helping Singaporeans feel a sense of belonging in this unfamiliar environment, finding comfort and reassurance in this homely community.

As the Secretary, I will help the committee to prioritise the needs and interests of the society. This involves managing documents, deadlines and emails, facilitating effective and efficient communication, and finally supporting the committee by being flexible and adpatable. To me, the successful execution of the Secretary is critical for the growth of the society, and I feel that my attributes complement this role. I hope as someone who’s direct, logistically-minded and fun, I can contribute positively to SingSoc!

If elected, I aim to streamline communication and information sharing, find ways to declutter and standardise certain processes, and most importantly ensure each committee member feels supported. From my previous experience as VP of student council, I appreciate that cohesion in the committee is very important. Hence, I hope to foster unity within the committee and support each member with their goals for the society.

I am eager to bring my skills and enthusiasm to this exciting opportunity. I hope we can collectively build a warm, connected and lively community! I’d be very thankful to have your vote ?
