Hi everyone, I'm Imogen!

As a Natural Sciences student specialising in Astrophysics and Geoscience, I’m used to juggling lots at once, but I also enjoy finding connections between the two subjects I study. The interdisciplinary nature of Science Magazine drew me to run for president, as the intersections of different fields is one of its most important aspects - second only to the creative, driven and friendly people that I've met and learned from!

I've gained strong leadership skills from chairing meetings and promoting student feedback in my current role as Natural Sciences Lead Representative, and helped Space Society operate smoothly through my role as Secretary. This has strengthened my communication skills, but more importantly teamwork and delegation - essential for a successful committee.

If elected president, I will:

  • Use my strong organisational skills to provide the resources to continue producing high quality articles and a steady schedule of speakers
  • Increase the interdisciplinary breadth of articles by encouraging writers to interweave subjects that are not usually linked together
  • Run frequent casual socials to strengthen our welcoming community and break down the historically intimidating barriers to STEM

As a member this year, it has been incredible to see the quality of articles, speakers, and discussions from such a new society. It would be an honour to be elected President to ensure that Science Magazine continues to go from strength to strength.
