From the beginning of the first term, I have been very excited to hear about the developments leading up to the establishment of our new society.  As a Course Academic Representative, I have had the privilege of observing the brainstorming and application process that led to the creation of the PHSS, and would love to be a part of further establishing social and academic events to promote the goals and values of the Faculty of Population Health Sciences in the role of Event Director. Through a combination of social, academic, and career events, I hope to promote a sense of community within the course, foster learning outside of lecture through open and casual academic discussions, and provide students with opportunities to network and explore career pathways in the Population Health Sciences.

In the past, I have had experience in leadership roles which have required me to coordinate events in a similar capacity. I have had the opportunity to organize events such as banquets, academic society events, fundraisers, and community service outreach projects within my local community. Through these experiences, I have come to understand the creative thinking, planning, problem-solving, and leadership that is necessary to successfully plan and coordinate events. Furthermore, my time as an a Course Academic Representative has allowed me to get to know my peers and gain a better understanding of some events which I believe would promote high engagement across the faculty.
