Alexandra Miller

Hi, my name is Alexandra and I am a first-year English Literature student running for Events Coordinator! My motivation is giving everyone the encouragement and chance to try their hand at musical theatre. Before UCL, I did not have such MT opportunities, like being in show ‘She Loves Me’ as Mrs. Maraczek and the Gala, to explore musical theatre. To allow the opportunity-starved, silent MT kid, fresh from school, with an engaging platform to explore their artistic voice – to be finally free to belt ‘Defying Gravity’ at an Open Mic if they please; or to allow the fruits of creativity in a directorial enthusiast finally flower in a gala; or to bring like-minded people together to bond over MT - these are all goals that I would be devoted to. Above all, I want to encourage the spark of enjoyment in MT in everyone; perhaps those who never had the chance to discover something new, something wonderful, that brings them joy. I would emphasise continuing making events inclusive and varied to widen participation, and building possibilities for more externally based MT events which take the society to a larger community and audience. Simultaneously being Editor-in-chief, President, and Chair of three groups at my school, and currently being Lead Undergraduate Rep for my course, is organisational, communicative, and collaborative experience that makes me feel confident to manage the role’s responsibilities.
