Hi everyone :)
Being a member of RUMS Music via Accarhythmia for the past half year has made my journey through medical school so much more enjoyable. Rehearsals feel more like tight-knit socials and performances are a chance to connect with the wider society through mutual love for music. I would love to be a part of the committee to help our groups integrate and collaborate in the future.
As community outreach officer, I aim to deliver the same joy I felt upon joining RUMS Music, with the community. Throughout my years of learning Indian music, my guru emphasised how music is a gift so pure that when given from the heart to the right person at the right time and place while expecting nothing in return, both parties can obtain self-fulfilment. I hope to share the talent of this society with those who seek respite. There are many charities and organisations in UCL that may benefit from the power of music and are more accessible than larger organisations. I hope to take little but sure steps in integrating RUMS Music deeper in the community, having already experienced its power through carolling twice at London Bridge. Working with managers from each group can help get events such as hospital carolling back up.
My most ambitious goal if I get elected would be to have a RUMS Music X RUMS Spectrum collaboration to perform and fundraise. I'm also open to other suggestions.
