Hi, I’m Angel, an MSci Psychology student and the current President of the Society, seeking to extend my period of office.
Continuing our current projects that promote your well-being, as well as raise awareness around mental health topics and intersectionality. I endeavour to achieve the following:
- Build a supportive community: Regular socials for you to take a break and share your worries with fellow students
- Develop professionally: Organising more career events in the mental health field to expand your professional network
- Give back to the community: Fundraisers for mental health charities and relevant student-led groups
- More effective communication: Circulate event schedules regularly so you can plan ahead, as well as listen to your opinions via digital and in-person means
With years of advocating for mental health and working with 20+ relevant charities, I have:
- Strong leadership: I have been leading university-wide, national and international student-led organisations (e.g., UCL Cultured Minds, BPS Student Committee, International Psychology Students Initiative) which sharpened my communication skills and cultural sensitivity
- Empathetic and non-judgmental beliefs: I currently work at HFEH Mind as a Safe Space Support Worker to de-escalate mental health crises, and have volunteered at Shout, Beat and UCLH NHS Trust
- Comprehensive knowledge to protect you: I am a certified Mental Health First Aider, First Aider, and Fire Warden
