Election post

Status
Elected

Joint nomination between Ella Odutoye and Lauren Pereira-Greene.

As Psychiatry co-chairs, we will prioritise:

  1. Hosting a student Psychiatry conference, alongside other societies.
  2. Improving early exposure to psychiatry, working with year 12 students through ‘Psych for 6th’ programme, and medical students through ‘Psychiatry Early Experience Programme (PEEP)’.
  3. Facilitating research partnerships, projects and mentorship, as well as promoting internal and external opportunities (e.g. scholarships, competitions etc.).
  4. Growing our society and increasing collaboration. We will host regular events such as film screenings, discussions, tutorials, and socials.
  5. Strengthening our relationship with RCPsych and utilising the benefits they offer PsychSocs.

Why us?

Together we have been involved in the organisation of conferences (e.g. WinS, UCL Brain Symposium, and VASC) and lecture series (e.g. Journey through the Encephalon, and Critical Medicine series). Between us, we've undertaken a broad range of roles including as Co-Founder, publicity officer, student representative, inclusivity officer, tutor, and mentor. Through several projects with the Translational Psychiatry research group and Anthropology department, we've gained relevant research experience, and have won psychiatry scholarships and awards. Most importantly, we love Psychiatry!
