I want to bring ophthalmology to the forefront of the wider learning opportunities available at the medical school next year and believe this role will provide the platform to do this.
Ophthalmology is one of the most competitive specialties in medicine, and so I want to use the role as chair to organise various teaching sessions, including for the Duke Elder exam, to allow UCL medics to explore the specialty further and elevate their chances of success.
I aim to engage students further through guest speakers, who can provide an insight into the application process and life as a junior doctor on the training programme itself to help interested students build a strong portfolio and application.
With the Med Soc being one of the largest and most popular societies within the medical school, I believe this role will allow me to promote research opportunities, build ties with those already in the field and also to collaborate with other related specialties.
