I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the LSS committee over the last two years. Options were limited for reasons out of everyone's control, so the few social events which followed through were very uplifting. Nonetheless, as the biggest scientific society in UCL, I believe we have far greater potential to exceed in the next academic year.

I found that the lack of social events and face to face opportunities were the main issues raised throughout my experience, and I believe I have what it takes to forefront this in the committee this year. I have a good track record in organising: I was the Biology rep for my Sixth form during Covid and (despite the setbacks of lockdown) managed to get a variety of talks, conferences, and live experiments within year 13. I also have a lot of connections with many UCL tutors and mentors and other bioscience societies from other universities in the UK.

Under the VP role, I would prioritise:

  • A termly social event itinerary
  • More opportunities in preparation and knowledge for life science internship and post-graduate careers
  • Improving active roles for the first year representatives more active roles
  • More collaboration with the life science faculty, and other related societies both within and outside of UCL

I would love the chance to implement my ideas in with the rest of the members and would be an active promoter socially and academically, growing our community while also ensuring current members get the most out of their membership.
