Martin Barabas

Previously serving as Communications, Campaigns and Media Officer, my role was to expand the reach of UCL Labour. I want to continue doing this by having weekly events, some co-hosted with other societies. These will involve guest speakers, socials, informal debates and more.

I plan to grow the guest speaker events to have not only Labour MPs but industry leaders, advisors, journalists, economists and more notable figures. These will provide more connections in the industries you may want to work in and help you be more informed about politics. 

In addition, considering the UCL Labour Discussion groupchat is getting popular, I pledge to introduce in-person discussions where we can split a room into two teams and have light-hearted debates about important issues. 

There would also be more fun socials, where we would co-host events with other societies at UCL and other Labour societies at different universities to help you have more contacts and experiences. 

If given the opportunity to serve, the society will be as inclusive as possible to increase its size and help members have the opportunity for great experiences and development.
