Miranda Hitchens

Hi everyone, my name is Miranda and I'm a 2nd Year Chemical Engineering student! I have been a consistent contributor to Kinesis for the last 2 years as both an author and editor, and served as Web Editor this year. In this time, I have had the pleasure of reading and editing multiple insightful articles, and helping the authors bring their best work to fruition.

Being a member of the current committee has familiarized me with the behind-the-scenes operation of Kinesis, and just how much effort and dedication making the print edition requires. Working on Issues 9-12 has shown me the incredible progress the magazine is making in the quality of articles, art and organization as the society grows. Finally, I have really come to appreciate the important role of editing in the final product, and personally, I would love to stay as involved as I can in preparing articles, even just to read them!

The community this society fosters offers an incredible range of subject matter, and it is a great privilege to have been a part of it since I joined UCL. Even though I am not a student of the life sciences, I have always felt welcome by the people and engaged by the process of editing and writing.  As much as editing for the website has been a great experience this year, I would like to be more active in the creation of our print issues for my final year, and thus the Copy Editor seems like the ideal role for me.
