During the first month in London the importance and value of networking and connections already started to become visible. However, I had to spend quite a few months here to realize the actual beauty of connecting with those speaking the same language, having the same culture and understanding all those Hungarian jokes nobody else would. I discovered different aspects of it: how these relationships could build us, how much they contribute to our personal growth, how these friendships shape our paths together with all the experiences and memories we gain from every single social event with Hungarians. I get surprised time after time by the outstanding characters I meet. So many inspiring personalities that are interesting in different ways, still all of them can find a common ground and some fields in life where they can see their connection.
My appreciation of the Hungarian community at UCL increased gradually and continuously until it got to a point where I feel a need to get involved in actions helping my peers, build and maintain the community and contribute to the projects that initiate and strengthen these connections between us. I like to have discussions with my Hungarian friends in London about different ideas and the potential future of Hungarian students abroad and I am eager to make some of the visions reality by applying my own set of skills and knowledge.
