Shreeya V Gorasia

I would love to be part of the Hindu society committee. I have loved every single event that the society as organised and looking forward to many more to come.

I found beginning of first year quite lonely and difficult, but it was through this society I made friends and also had a lot of fun. I would love to help more people in a similar situation and make a difference in the UCL community.

I love contributing ideas for events such as weekly mendhi nights, more 'family' activities like Indian food days, and would love to help plan and organise even more as I appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

It would be a great pleasure to give back to the community whether it's for planning fun activities, celebrating the vibrant and important religious events like holi, Diwali and so much more. There are so many possibilities to bring everyone together.

I was amazed by the rangeela performances and know it would not have been so spectacular without the hard work behind the scenes, and would love to make sure the following years rangeela is even bigger.I know much of the success of the events is form the marketing and promotion through social media and I feel like I'm suited to managing that.

I would be honoured to be part of the society and will do my very best as a general secretary.

Riya B Patel

Firstly, I am passionate about the Hindu Society and want to contribute to its growth and success. As General Secretary, I would be involved in decision-making processes that would shape the direction of the society. This is an exciting opportunity for me to make a positive impact and to help build a strong and vibrant community.

Secondly, I am highly organized and detail-oriented, which would make me an excellent fit for the administrative and organizational aspects of the role. I am confident that I would be able to effectively manage the society's room bookings and produce the Rangeela rehearsal schedules to ensure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Thirdly, as General Secretary, I would be responsible for recording minutes during society meetings, which is a crucial role in ensuring that everyone is kept up-to-date on decisions and action items. I am a skilled communicator and would be able to accurately capture and communicate the key points discussed in meetings.

Finally, I am excited about the opportunity to oversee the Hindu Society newsletter and emails. I believe that effective communication is key to building a strong and engaged community, and I would work hard to ensure that members of the society are kept informed and up-to-date on all the latest news and events.

Overall, I am enthusiastic about the prospect of serving as General Secretary for the Hindu Society and believe that I would be able to make a positive contribution to the society's success.

Nikita Vasireddi

Hi! I'm Nikita, a first year math and computer science student from Bangalore and I am running to be this year’s General Secretary.

Not only did I make some of my fondest memories and closest friends as an FYR, but I also gained a firsthand experience into how our society is run. After holding other leadership positions in high school clubs, I know the significance of having a proactive, organized member for the rest of the committee to rely on. I strongly believe I have the organizational and communication skills needed to be such an integral part of the society, and am grateful for the opportunity of being entrusted with the responsibility.

This year was interspersed with Hindu society’s memorable events, but Rangeela was the most incredible cultural showcase I’ve ever seen, and I’m very excited at the prospect of having such an important role in its organization. This year, as a runner backstage, I was able to communicate with every act and learn what they each needed to perform at their best, while also learning how to create schedules and room bookings so that acts were able to rehearse to perfection. It was immediately evident that having excellent time-management skills was vital for this role, which I know I do.

As an international student, I know the significance of being part of a cultural society that celebrates familiar traditions we’ve grown up with, and I’m committed to providing everyone with the experience of being part of such an incredible community!

Anindita Dhaka

Hi, I am Annie, a first-year Economics student from Singapore, and I am running for this year’s Hindu Society General Secretary. I am a sociable and approachable person who aims to ensure that your requests will be heard, delivered and implemented by HSoc.

As a first-year representative, I have been gaining insight into the organisation and management required for our flagship events like Diwali Ball and Rangeela, which I would mainly be responsible for as General Secretary. Rangeela, being one of the most culturally diverse showcases at UCL was a key moment in my first year as it allowed me to meet individuals from various backgrounds, and as General Secretary, I aim to make it even more enjoyable for everyone next year.

Alongside that, my previous leadership experience in TEDx and MUN has enabled me to understand the intricacies behind event planning, and hone important skills like thinking on my feet, being organised and most importantly, successfully working in a team. This experience would strengthen my ability to efficiently plan and manage both external and internal communications while also assisting the other members of the committee in any way that I am able to.

I hope to create a community that allows all members to feel a strong sense of community and support that I have felt this year through Hindu Society!
