Honor D De Oliveira

Hello, I'm Honor, a second year Cell Biology student.

I am running for the position of genetics society welfare officer because I'd love to be a part of the committee next year! I really enjoyed my time in genetics soc this year as it was a great way to get to know new people, gain career skills and hear from some really interesting speakers (both ucl students and external!). I found the society really welcoming with friendly committe members and I would be committed to helping continue this next year.

I have been welfare and volunteering and outreach officer for the UCL Music Society this year which I have found really rewarding and is why I would like to be a welfare officer for genetics society next year. As someone who was extremely nervous about coming to university myself I would like to be able to support anyone who might be struggling, need some extra support, or who just would like someone to chat to! Some of the things I have done in my welfare post currently include sending out and responding to termly 'well-being wednesday' questionnaires and signposting myself to anyone who needs extra support.
