As the social media manager of UCLWES, I have had the chance to understand the importance of actively contributing to ensure all our events are successful. I understood the importance of each of the departments working together to organise career-oriented/ social events which have a great impact on our members. First-hand experience of how the society operates is a factor that I believe makes a successful vice president.

Through group projects, I have regularly ensured that tasks are delegated efficiently and monitored team members’ responsibilities which I believe are great qualities of a Vice President. I have had experience tutoring GCSE students where I was able to develop my organisation and communication skills, which are applicable when ensuring all our committee meetings are productive. My minor in Managerial Accounting has helped me to become confident with expressing financial information on spreadsheets which would be favourable when working closely with the treasurer to plan a feasible spending plan.

As vice president of UCLWES, I plan to:

  1. Work with the team to host a variety of engaging events to empower women engineers and collaborate with other engineering societies inside and outside of UCL to widen our network
  2. Ensure the society runs smoothly by ensuring there are weekly committee meetings to keep up to date with everyone’s tasks
  3. Collaborate with the President in designing engaging presentations for career-orientated events
