Election post

Coming to university is a big transition and it is common to feel like you haven’t found your place. Personally, joining RUMS tennis is what allowed me to feel like I belonged at UCL and find my community. As a social sec, I hope to help others settle in and have as much fun as I have had this year. Ever since being chosen as Fresher of Tour, I have demonstrated my commitment and passion for the club, and not just my ability to down a pint or a funnel.

Other than fulfilling the expected duties of a social sec, such as planning a BANGING tour and attending sportsnight every week, if elected I intend to:

  • Organise a camping trip in the summer after the exams. I believe that it will prove to a be a very good opportunity to have fun outdoors and face challenges where those less experienced with camping can develop some survival skills (more in the sense of how to light a fire and make great s’mores)
  • Work together with other members of the committee, such as the Education and Welfare officer and the captains, to have more bonding activities outside of sportsnight
  • Learn new games from peers in other clubs of which the best will be implemented in sportsnight (only the very best for RUMS tennis)

I understand the difficulties of being a social sec in second year, but I believe I am up for the challenge.
