As Workshops Coordinator for iNUGSC 2022, I expanded our widening participation scheme, creating workshops for sixth form students as I am dedicated to creating a diverse environment and equal opportunities for all students. I liaised with surgeons and delegates to organise some of our most immersive workshops to date, including a cardio virtual reality simulation workshop, something I would like to make bigger next year due to popularity. Having been on committee this year, I understand the process of running iNUGSC and am determined to listen to feedback from this year to boost participation next year.

I have also been on the Surgical Society Education Committee delivering presentations to students and providing support, hence am passionate about adding more talks throughout the year from surgeons working on cutting edge research, due to the response we have had this year, and would like to run more clinical skills sessions to teach basic surgical skills.

My previous roles mean I have experience handling logistical issues and ensuring the safety of sixth form students at surgical conferences. I am determined to widen our sponsorship for iNUGSC to allow for more practical surgical skills workshops and also want to improve our social media influence. I will use the relationships I have built with surgeons this year, such as my internship with Dr Rob Stephens working for surgeons at UCLH, to further diversify the society and help widen our outreach.
