Zahra Ahmed

I am extremely passionate about plastic surgery and want to share my enthusiasm with other students. Many people have a false perception about plastics; there is so much more variety in plastics than people realise ranging from hand surgery to burns. By voting for me as plastics chair I will provide a range of talks from speakers specialising in a variety of aspects of plastic surgery.  I want to organise more practical workshops for example microsurgery practice and organise journal clubs with other London medical schools to keep people informed on current plastics research and allow collaboration between students with a shared interest in plastic surgery. I love shadowing plastic surgeons, my favourite procedure that I have seen so far is a DIEP flap breast reconstruction. I want to provide contacts for other students with a passion for plastics so they too have the opportunity to shadow or scrub in. I am currently the logistics officer for the plastics* OMFS conference which will help me coordinate a unique conference next year. I am also a CLEFT ambassador and I am keen to do more charity fundraising work and events with CLEFT to raise awareness and get others involved in their great work.
