Hey! I am Ola, from Poland, and I am finishing my first year of Medical Sciences! :)
I grew up by the seaside so water sports were always around me. I started to surf around 4 years ago in Baltic Sea (can get quite chilly! but looking my picture you see it is amazing during the sunrises).
After living and working in surf camp in Portugal during last summer I've completely fallen in love with surfing. Coming to UCL and seeing super chill and such a welcoming society as UCL Surf Club made me really excited. I would love to join the community as a Welfare Secretary to promote well-being and explore Surf Club.
My ideas to develop the surf club as a Welfare Secretary would be:
- make sure everyone in the community feels welcomed and make activities inclusive so that everyone can find something for themselves.
co-develop fun events and trips with the rest people from committee (surf socials, watching movies, perhaps co-organiaing trips to UK (Cornwall!) or Portugal (maybe we could even watch some big waves in Nazare!)
- promote well-being and help to continue organising yoga sessions.
- reachout to other surf clubs around UK unis to make socialize!
