Hi! I'm Avanija and I’m an MSci Astrophysics student, running for Competition Officer.

Throughout my 2 years at UCL, I have been involved in a plethora of leadership roles:

  • As the Vice-President of UCL Physics Society, I helped manage and lead the committee and members, while organising the various academic and social events.
  • As a committee member of UCL Space Society, where I’m currently the Representative for UCL Centre for Outer Space Studies, I act as a link between the student body and the research and events of UCL COSS.
  • As the Campus Ambassador for the Institute of Physics, I organise physics-related events for students within UCL, other universities and also related societies by developing relationships.
  • As an Academic Representative,  I lead discussions about workload, teaching and examinations, with positive results through frequent meetings with Students’ Union and faculty and consistently taking student feedback.
  • As a Scientific Mission Team Member for ‘Asteria: Space and Satellites’, I am involved in a national student team of space research. This role provides me with a deep insight into the various applications of space research.

Being a Research Associate for several organisations including Mars Society, Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, UN’s Space Generation Advisory Council, etc. has broadened my network vastly. This will provide invaluable insights and connections that will be useful for our society’s growth.
