Your Role

You will be a full time Sabbatical Officer of the Students’ Union working full time to provide leadership to the Students’ Union’s services, especially those relating to sports, societies and volunteering; and representing the interests of students to UCL, including particiapting in UCL committees and regular meetings with senior UCL staff.

 

From the Welcome Fair to Varsity and end of year balls, you will have opportunities to shape the co-curricular and social experiences that you think students want from their Union. Every year, thousands of students get involved in sports, societies and volunteering activities, all of which are run by the Students’ Union. As Activities Officer, you will be the lead officer for developing these aspects of the Union and you will have a unique opportunity to shape the social and co-curricular side of student life at UCL.

 

Your Responsibility

  • Set the strategic direction for the Union’s  clubs and societies across sports, arts and general interest activities
  • Chair the Clubs and Societies finance panel and be responsible for decisions on affiliations
  • Ensure that student activities, including clubs, societies and their associated funding and facilities, as well as the volunteering service are effectively represented in UCL decision making.
  • Chair the Activities Zone, the democratic forum for passing Union Policy to do with student Be the lead officer for the Student Union’s Volunteering Service
  • Make sure that Union events and societies are engaging, fair and accessible for students
  • Be a Trustee of the Students’ Union and a member of the Students’ Union Leadership TeamBe an active member of the Union Executive

This is a full time role over a 12.5 month period, from 1 July 2020 – 15 July 2021

35 hours per week plus a range of additional events

Salary: £25k (approx.)
