What is Laughter Yoga?

Laughter Yoga is a fun and simple form of exercise that combines playful laughter exercises with yogic breathing techniques. Rather than relying on humor, the practice encourages voluntary laughter that often becomes contagious within the group, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. It’s based on the idea that intentional laughter provides similar physiological and psychological benefits to spontaneous laughter – even if it’s “pretend,” it soon feels real!

Why Join? The Benefits of Laughter Yoga

  1. Stress Relief: Laughter naturally reduces the stress hormone cortisol, leaving you feeling relaxed and calm.
  2. Boosted Mood: It stimulates the release of endorphins, the body's “feel-good” hormones, to lift your mood instantly.
  3. Enhanced Focus and Energy: By increasing oxygen intake and circulation, laughter yoga boosts brain function, giving you the clarity you need for your studies.
  4. Improved Social Connection: Laughter is a universal language, and laughing together creates a sense of camaraderie and community.
  5. Supports Mental Health: Studies show that laughter can reduce anxiety, improve resilience, and increase positive thinking.
