🗓️ Friday the 22nd of November, 18:30 - 20:30
📍 Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre (large lecture theatre above the main library), Wilkins Building (main building)
Join us for an engaging discussion on the future of British democracy, with guests Sandy Martin and Ken Ritchie.
The discussion will focus on the central themes of the monarchy and its place in modern Britain and electoral reform, while also touching upon the House of Lords, whether Britain needs a written constitution and other issues.
Our guest speakers will address 'the floor' with their thoughts and views on the state of democracy in the UK and the central issues of debate, after which, we will open it up to all participants to speak their minds and ask questions.
We are pleased to be joined by our 2 guest speakers:
- Sandy Martin, a former Labour MP for Ipswich and chair of the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform (LCER)
- Ken Ritchie, Labour activist, secretary and founder of Labour for a Republic, treasurer of LCER
If you like debating and/or have a passion for politics and democracy then make sure to come along this Friday!
