What to expect from the sessions: Learn to Climb (boulder) is a 6-week instructed climbing course. Each week there will be a 1-hour lesson, where we explore fundamental climbing techniques. The course will specifically focus on bouldering, which is one of the core climbing disciplines. Indoor bouldering is where we climb up to 4.5m high over foam boulder mats. The course is suitable for both new climbers and existing climbers who boulder at the V0 - V2 grade. Boulder safety and fall practice will be covered as part of the first lesson, so you do not need any previous climbing experience to join the course. The aim of the course is to create a solid base of climbing techniques so participants can continue to improve once the course has finished.
Over the 6 weeks we will learn about fundamental climbing techniques and movement, which are briefly summarised below:
- Learning how to utilise strength in your legs - ‘if you can get up stairs you can go bouldering’
- Foot placement and body positioning
- Climbing jargon e.g. crimps, rock-over, drop-knee
- How to climb efficiently e.g. route reading, hold selection, use of appropriate techniques
- Utilising momentum to make moves feel easier e.g. more dynamic rockovers
Run by a fantastic climbing instructor, the Learn to Climb (Boulder) course is a great opportunity to learn and improve in a supportive environment!
