Thavisha Jayawardana

Hey everyone! I’m a 2nd-year biomedical sciences student, and I’m so excited to be running for Vice President of the UCL Biomedical Sciences Society. This society has so much potential, and our seniors have worked really hard to establish it, I’m eager to work alongside our President and committee to make it even more engaging, supportive, and full of opportunities for everyone.

Research and innovation are at the heart of what we do, and I’m all about making sure our members have the resources to thrive academically and professionally. I’d love to set up meaningful mentorship programs to connect you with alumni and industry professionals to give some insight into life beyond university. I’ll also work to expand internship and research opportunities, making resources more accessible, helping us all get ahead.

But it’s not just about academics—community is everything. I want our society to be a place where we celebrate our diverse backgrounds and genuinely enjoy being part of something special. Whether it’s through fun social events, networking activities, or just creating a welcoming space where friendships can grow, I’m committed to making our society feel like a second home.

I’m ready to bring energy, dedication, and fresh ideas to this role. With experience in leadership positions at Science soc and as a prefect at school and time spent working in labs, I’m confident I have the communication skills and vision to make a difference. Thank you for considering my nomination!

I am standing for the role of Vice President in the Biomedical Sciences society because I believe creating opportunity. I see assisting the president as a powerful way of improving the experience of being part of the society. Others have described me as very organised, with a good ability to communicate. Organisation and responsibility are essential as a Vice President and I strive to maintain those values. I am dedicated to my course and fellow students, and I see running for committee member as the best way to emphasise this. As it is a new society, I want to help build it up to have a lasting positive impact, that will make a change to student satisfaction within Biomedical Sciences. My vision for the society includes providing opportunities and support for Biomed students so they truly thrive at university. plsvote4me xxx
