About Us
The UCL Biomedical Sciences Society is a vibrant and inclusive community that brings together students not only from Biomedical Sciences but also from across UCL who are interested in careers connected to biomedicine. With Biomedical Sciences being one of the largest courses at UCL and UCL consistently ranked in the top 10 globally in the broad field of Life Sciences and Medicine, our society reflects the scale, diversity, and excellence of this discipline. We aim to foster a friendly environment where members can explore their academic and professional interests while building meaningful social connections.
Our society is built on two key pillars: Careers and Socials.
Careers:
We’re passionate about supporting your future in the biomedical field and beyond. Our careers programme includes:
- Student-led internship panels covering diverse paths such as Finance, Consultancy, Pharmaceuticals, and Research.
- Industry talks where leading companies share insights into their missions, day-to-day life, and career opportunities - with the chance to submit your CV for future recruitment.
- Networking events with industry leaders and professionals.
- Practical workshops, including CV-writing and application tips.
- Research-focused talks from Master’s and PhD students, as well as UCL lecturers, offering unique insights into academic pathways and current projects.
Socials:
We believe university life is about more than just academics, which is why we run a wide range of social and wellbeing events throughout the year:
- Monthly welfare sessions, including coffee chats, movie nights, and games nights, to relax and connect.
- Biomed Families, a peer-mentoring scheme where younger students are paired with older members for advice and support on both academic and university life.
- Festive celebrations, such as our Christmas Party at the end of Term 1.
- Our signature End of Year Biomed Boat Ball, with discounted tickets for members.
Whether you’re looking to prepare for your future career, make new friends, or simply be part of a supportive and welcoming community, the UCL Biomedical Sciences Society is here for you!
