Hey everyone, my name is Harvey Nriapia and I am running to be your Speakers VP.
I have been a Speakers Exec this year and it has been a fulfilling and enjoyable journey. Being the only candidate with experience in the Speakers division, I understand the demands of this role and look forward to leading the team to continue to provide the renowned speakers events and interviews that UCLIS is known for.
I was instrumental in pulling off the UCLIS Finance Conference of 2021 — both inviting and interviewing esteemed speakers to an audience of over 300 members. It was our most successful event to date and being part of the team that brought it to life fills me with great pride.
Having a deep understanding of financial trends and markets, I am able to execute incisive interviews with leaders and trailblazers in the industry and look forward to organising numerous events with high-profile speakers throughout the upcoming year.
UCLIS is bouncing back post-covid, and I want to continue the successes of the most prestigious society at UCL.
Vote Harvey.
Fascinated by the world of finance and economics, I veer towards expanding my horizons through opportunities in this field. To this end, I became an analyst for the UCL M&A group, Europe’s largest investment banking society. In this position, I deliver analysis reports on deals in Consumer Retail and Leisure that comprise a plethora of financial and trading information in a comprehensive and accessible manner for our readers. As an analyst, I developed key skills such as calculating valuation considerations and analyzing them through financial comparables in addition to holistic skills such as organization, commitment and time management. In addition to completing my year-long internship as a market research intern at Evolv news, a student-led news organization; becoming a finalist among 5000+ participants at the Wharton Youth Investment competition was an immensely enriching experience. I worked on a portfolio recommendation for a client that focused on capital growth. Through the experience, I gained first-hand experience in finance and matured my constant drive for success and establish a resilient and determined attitude. I believe that all these experiences have coalesced into my growth in organizational skills, management skills and communication. I have been tasked with being under pressure and focusing on results through these opportunities, and therefore, I find that I would be best suited to contribute to UCLIS as Vice President Speaker Relations.
