Dance society has provided a greatly needed relief from the stress of my studies while keeping me fit. At the beginning of the year, I was fairly new to dancing and found solace in this society and wish to help other students do the same. I was previously a part of the school council for two years and have developed core skills in communication and organization. In particular, I have experience working closely with my team to make vital changes, such as introducing trousers into a traditional girls' school uniform that hasn't changed for the last 100 years. I have also developed strong leadership and presentation skills by co-founding the economics club in school and have experience leading weekly discussions and presentations. I am currently pursuing an economics degree and am incredibly interested in finance. I am confident these skills will allow me to thrive as a treasurer for the dance society. I am looking forward to developing dance society further to reach a more significant number of students. Also, I am incredibly excited to help next year's freshers, especially those new to dance and produce the Freshers' show.

Charlotte Yung

Hi everyone !! Most of you probably haven’t seen me around because I am currently on my year abroad and the pandemic unfortunately made it difficult to meet anyone last year :/ My name is Charlotte, I’m a third-year EISPS student and you will most likely find me doing jazz or contemporary although I love trying new styles. I fell in love with UCL Dance Society during my first year and would love to contribute to helping it grow during my final year !! Last year, I contributed to the creation of a charity for which I am currently the treasurer and I am convinced this experience will help me manage the society’s treasury the best I can. I also developed great organisational skills and had to learn how to be extra efficient as I was working a part-time job at the same time as being the Volunteering Officer of another society and pursuing my degree. Being a part of the volunteering team helped me improve my teamwork skills which will be extremely useful as a treasurer as I will be involved in all aspects of Dance Soc. I also look forward to producing the Freshers’ show as it is one of my first and favourite memories of being in the society, and being a friendly face to every member, especially new ones ! I’m always in the student center so it isn’t hard to find me haha ;) Feel free to contact me if you want any more information !

Sophie D Xu-Tang

Hi! I’m Sophie and I’m running for Treasurer this year. My time at UCL would absolutely not have been the same without Dance Soc and I’ve loved being on committee this year as Communications officer. So, I’d like to submit my nomination for Treasurer so that I can do it all again for my final year here ;’)

Being Comms officer required me to know all the events going on at Dance Soc, which means I will be prepared for the upcoming year. I think I'm well suited to the role because I am organised and enjoy doing all the admin tasks which are needed behind the scenes. I’ve had experience running large conferences in the past and ensuring all the admin and finances are in order. I’ve also worked closely with Vicky this year, so I know that it's a big responsibility but seeing her dedication has made me committed to do the same! Having been on the Freshers’ show prod team I think it’s important to promote the show early and get as many people involved as possible since it will be among their first experiences of dance soc.

I've spoken to some other society Treasurers this year and have ideas to secure even bigger and better sponsors so that Dance Soc members can receive greater benefits. As Treasurer I’ll also make a calendar of when all of the forms need to be submitted for various events and purchases so that things are done in time and the committee aren’t panic messaging each other in the middle of the night about whether T shirts have arrived!

Chelsea Ju

Hello! My name is Chelsea and I’m currently a Politics, Philosophy, and Economics second year student. I’ve been training in ballet for a long time (10+ years!), but I am aspiring to do better in other areas of dance (becoming good at hip hop is the dream...)

I’m running for Treasurer for a few reasons.

As Treasurer, one of my roles will include producing the Freshers’ show. Fortunately, because I was a dancer in this show, I am familiar with how the show should be run. In addition, I also have experience from dancing in shows in my studio back home. While participating and producing a show are different, I know my experience will be a valuable asset as I carry out this task.

Moreover, managing Dance Soc’s annual budget will require someone who is incredibly organised. I have honed these skills after juggling a part-time job this past term along with academics and Dance Soc. My main responsibility was to write two articles (4000 words) each week. Moreover, in high school, I was Vice President of a large volunteering organisation; every time we participated in an event, I had to fill out multiple pieces of paperwork to submit to the school. Before my role ended, I had filed paperwork for over 100 events.

If I become Treasurer, I guarantee I will always be a friendly face on the committee for any dancer to approach with their worries. Thank you!!
