Refugee Education UK
Refugee Education UK mission is to equip young refugees to build hopeful futures through education. We are working towards a world where all young people displaced by conflict or crisis are able to build more hopeful futures. We do this by supporting young refugees and asylum seekers to access, remain and progress in education.
Description

Are you interested in getting experience working in the charity sector? Do you want hands-on experience leading the implementation of a programme stream? Are you a capable in working independently that equally thrives with teamwork?

Refugee Education UK (REUK) provides education support to young people affected by displacement and crisis. We support these young people to overcome the barriers that prevent them from accessing and progressing in education and training, in order that they may realise their potential and build a brighter future, whether in the UK or elsewhere. We work with unaccompanied minors, refugee and asylum seeking children in families, and young survivors of trafficking. The young people on this programme are aged between 14 and 25 years old.

Each subject-specific mentoring co-lead volunteer will support the design and implementation of the subject-specific mentoring stream (SSMS), for a minimum commitment of four months, with the possibility to extend the volunteering for an additional two months. Co-leads take part in evaluating other ideas presented at the UCL Employer’s Challenge to refine the SSMS’s final design. In agreement with the SEMC, co-leads are designated areas of collaborative work, including but not limited to, subject-specific primary data collection, participatory workshop delivery, university outreach, REUK campus ambassador recruitment and SSMS resource development. Co-leads work closely with each other and the REUK Educational Mentoring team who provide oversight, guidance and support.
