Accessible Waterways Association
Making the waterways more accessible for all
Description

Our Accessible Waterways Day on 5th October 2024 is a fun and informal event with a purpose, for anyone who enjoys our inland waterways! Hosted at UCL East, it is aimed at anyone with accessibility needs or an interest in making our waterways more accessible. The programme includes a series of talks and stallholders exhibiting how they are working towards making our inland waterways as accessible as possible.

The event runs from 10:30 - 18:00. We are looking for volunteers who can help marshal guests on the day, ensuring that they can access the event space. You'll have the opportunity to visit the stalls and attend the talks on the day. This is also a great chance to get to know the UCL East Campus and the surrounding area!

You can find out more about the events and the speakers here: https://www.awa-uk.org.uk/accessible-waterways-day-london-2024/

Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Duties
  • Marshalling guests into the building, registering them, and making sure they are able to access the event space, taking into consideration accessible routes.
  • Helping guests with things like connecting to UCL Guest Wi-Fi, finding accessible toilets, and any other facilities they may need (prayer rooms etc).
  • Keeping a rough track of visitor numbers and asking guests to complete feedback forms.

Time commitment

This is a one-day event. You can either volunteer for the whole day or do a half day shift.
