We are looking for a research volunteer that helps us examine the impact of gardening on physical wellbeing, focusing on how increased physical and social activities associated with gardening can lead to reduced NHS costs in both the short and long term. By analysing the health benefits of gardening, we aim to demonstrate its potential to lower healthcare expenses through improved physical fitness and enhanced social interactions.
The aims of the research are:
- To examine the physical health benefits of gardening, such as improved fitness, mobility, and overall well-being.
- To explore how the social interactions fostered through community gardening contribute to mental and emotional health.
- To assess the potential cost savings for the NHS by analysing the impact of gardening on reducing the demand for medical services.
- Data Collection: Researchers will conduct surveys and interviews with gardeners, healthcare professionals, and community members to gather both qualitative and quantitative data on the physical and social benefits of gardening.
- Data Analysis: Researchers will assist in analysing data to identify trends, focusing on improvements in physical health and well-being, and potential cost reductions for the NHS.
- Research Reporting: Researchers will contribute to compiling research findings that highlight how gardening can lead to better health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.
