The Centre provides services and activities for everyone in our community, catering for a wide range of interests and age groups.
Description

The Community Festival has been running since 1999. We aim to draw together the members of our very diverse local community. We do this by developing partnerships so that many people can take part in and enjoy a wide range of events over a summer weekend. This year the Festival will happen in Camden Square, NW1 on Saturday July 20th & Sunday July 21st.

Duties

You can help by being a Volunteer Steward on the weekend (& you can become involved in developing a future festival programme).

Volunteers are allocated tasks in teams of three. Tasks include: Acting as a festival host; Checking-in stall holders, performers and volunteers; Staffing road barriers; Setting up Gazebos and Marquees; Moving light furniture; Asking members of the public to complete a Festival Questionnaire.

Time commitment

Interested in Helping?

We ask you to commit to a 2-3 hour time slot so we can plan to have enough cover. This will still leave you plenty of time to enjoy the Festival when you are not on duty. You can do more than one slot if you wish.

We will give you training at 6.30 on Wednesday 12th June &/or 10th July or at another time to suit.

How does it work at the weekend?
We set up the Festival site on Saturday and Sunday. We ask volunteers to help setting up or taking down, or to be available during the events themselves.

On Saturday we hold the Festival Jazz & Poetry from 3.30 to 7.30pm.
Volunteer slots are from 10am – 1pm; 12pm - 3pm; 3pm - 6pm & 6pm - 9pm

On Sunday we hold the Festival Family Day from 12 noon to 7pm
Volunteer slots are from 9am -12 noon; 12noon to 3pm: 3pm - 6 pm & 6pm - 9pm.
Free packed lunch is available.

On Sunday, there will be a very wide variety of activities, including: Parade; Music & Dance; Healthy Living; Green Corner; Children and Young Peoples’ activities; Stalls and more

Family Day is a very big event; with a lot to set-up before 12 noon.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working to keep you safe and supported whilst you volunteer.

You’ll never be out of pocket for volunteering through us – with in-London travel expenses to and from your volunteering guaranteed.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch with us at any time.
