Pride in TeamUCL Week 2021 (22nd February - 1st March 2021).
Pride in Sport Games
During Pride in TeamUCL Week this year, our sports clubs will be reaching out to London-based LGBTQ+ clubs to establish partnerships and organise friendly fixtures and/or training session with them. Due to the current lockdown restrictions, these events cannot take place during Pride in Sport Week, but they will be postponed and played later in the year when government/UCL regulations allow us to do so. Despite lockdown, our clubs are still encouraged to reach out to LGBTQ+ clubs now.
The aim of this is to raise awareness, demonstrate the possibility of an inclusive club, share ways in which to ensure inclusivity and establish a link for graduating students that may be staying in London.
If you are looking for an inclusive club to join, here is a spreadsheet of potential clubs you could contact: lgbtq_clubs_spreadsheet.xls
Pride in TeamUCL Training
During Pride in TeamUCL week, all TeamUCL club members will be invited to attend an online Active Bystander training specific to Pride in Sport. This will be an introductory module on key definitions, why Pride in Sport is important, safe and appropriate methods of intervention, a scenario, how to report inappropriate behaviour and a mini quiz to finish the introductory course. Approximate time to complete is 20 to 25 minutes. This course can be accessed here: https://studentsunionucl.org/course/pride-in-sport-training
This will be followed by a live workshop which will be facilitated by our Active Bystander Workshop Leaders via Zoom. The live workshops are an opportunity for you to practically apply the content learnt in the online training module and explore the scenarios and intervention techniques further. A range of different scenarios will be covered in the workshop, alongside the opportunity for you to ask questions to our Workshop Leaders. These workshops will be scheduled for 40 minutes. You can book your place on a live workshop here: Pride in Sport | Students' Union UCL
A register will be taken and submitted to Clubs and Societies departments of students that book and attend.
Pride in TeamUCL Pledges
Pride representatives from each of our clubs have also signed pledges that they will lead their sports communities in welcoming all persons regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. These pledges can be viewed here: Pride in TeamUCL Pledges | Students' Union UCL
