We are looking for someone to develop and expand our Story Bike service via outreach and partnering, developing service user contacts, evaluating the service and providing case studies as evidence.
The Story Bike is an electric cargo bike capable of carrying two passengers. Its purpose is to provide residents of Somers Town who experience reduced mobility or social isolation with an environmentally friendly and sociable means to access their community. The goal of this job role is:
- To help raise awareness of Story Bike as sustainable intergenerational taxi service
- To do outreach to engage community and build audience
- To investigate, develop and evaluate this service
- Build audience via Story Bike: To develop museum awareness through outreach and communications
TASKS
Community engagement + outreach
- Expand database of community groups and contacts at key organisations
- Build community though creative ways of engagement with community
- Maintain good relations with the community members and visitors
- To act as a point of contact and respond to queries about Story Bike/ museum
- Ensure the Story Bike is in attendance at Friday markets
- identify events such as festivals and fairs to attend
Audience Development and marketing
- Social media promotion and co-ordinating as required to ensure visibility
- Produce copy as required, in line with brand
- Promote the bike through leafleting and attending community events
Prototype development + assessment
- Produce data and case studies for writing up in a short report
- To undertake additional duties as may reasonably be expected
- Identify insurance and other needs for Trio Bike Taxi (chosen model)
- Cycle the Trio Bike Taxi and store safely
Volunteer and event management
- Identify and develop a network of suitable volunteers to cycle
- Coordinate cycle rides, liaising between passengers and cyclists to ensure the delivery of rides
- Carry out risk assessments to identify potential hazards when transporting elderly and vulnerable passengers
- Support volunteers with training in the use of the bike and ensure they are confident delivering rides
Other
- You will work closely with Diana Foster
- Arrange and attend a regular weekly catch up meeting with Diana
- Be aware of our aims, vision, ethos and organisation and act according to this
- Be aware of deadlines and keep on track
- Communicate any issues or problems
- Ensure safe storage of Story Bike
- We expect you to represent us and do nothing to bring a poor reputation
- Be aware of rules about consent, data confidentiality when DBS is needed
- Keep content confidential when necessary, and do not share members’ personal data
- Feedback anything or anyone to us that causes you discomfort and difficulty, or any needs to do work, so we can resolve this
- We will pay for occasional necessary expenses, such as DBS check

People’s Museum A Space For us is physical museum will maintain a sense of identity and place in Camden’s most deprived ward, Somers Town, at risk from huge development projects.
We began as a group of local creatives and academics, passionate about this area and involved in community, highly experienced in our respective fields of academia, art, publishing, and digital learning online.
We have built this over 7 years, from a basis in a Club and grounds-up community activism; taking part in Festivals and numerous events, to arts/engagement and compiled 4 publications.

The overall goal is to raise our profile and build our reputation as a professional museum with a social value: helping this area and its communities. The Story Bike is within that aim.
