Hello!
We're Headucate and we are a UK-wide student organisation that tackle stigma and raise awareness of mental health in schools. It is thought that 50% of lifelong mental illness is already established by the age of 14, but mental health teaching in schools is often variable and sometimes lacking altogether.
That's where we step in. We run small workshops to inform students and teenagers about what mental health is, misconceptions, good practices, and signposting. We'll provide you with the training to run these sessions and you can take part in as many as you'd like. We recognise that uni life is hectic so we try to be as flexible as possible. Beyond the workshops, we have a variety of talks, socials, and other events as part of our partnership with our parent organisation, Headucate UK.
It's a great opportunity to promote better mental health practices in young people, develop your skills in leadership and teaching, and join an awesome community of Headucators nationally!
You will be involved in running mental health workshops at schools in London. Training for these workshops will be provided, so don't worry about not knowing what to talk about - everyone is welcome!
Time commitment
We recognise that the timings and days depend on both the school and volunteer's availability, so we do not ask for a regular commitment. Feel free to commit to as many sessions as you would like.
