Candidates

Ria Bhalla

I am standing for this role firstly cause i'm a desi girl, I love getting involved and making myself and my friends a part of all social events, especially desi ones. I have volunteered at my local library, where I worked independently with young children and adults to  led a crafts class where I was involved in making flyers and poster for my borough, empowering my aplomb. I developed my communication skills efficaciously and completed all tasks competently. I have previously worked with many photo editing softwares such as Photoshop and have also designed my own T-shirts and hoodies from scratch. My enriching work experience at Lloyds Banking Group in 2019 gave me an insight about working in the financial sector. Both the work experiences were intriguing and valuable as they gave me exposure of work ethics, self-discipline, business management and dealing with people of different mindsets. I worked closely with team leaders and Project Managers in Finance and IT on various software development processes and tasks in a commercial organization and therefore I am organised and will ensure all financial targets are met. Overall I feel that I can bring out the success of each event and with an insta following of over 1.6k I believe I am competent enough to promote events over social media to ensure all events sell out! I hopefully look forward to being a memeber of the Hindu society and bringing out the best desi events of the year.

priyam gore

Hi, I’m Priyam and I’m a first-year Maths student running for Sponsorship Officer.  I believe that this role is vital in running a society as funding is imperative to ensure that next year’s events are unforgettable. I believe my organisational, communication and time management skills are a perfect fit for this role. Having worked in a finance company, I have the skills to ensure that I am able to build and maintain professional relationships and I believe that my outgoing personality would be extremely helpful in securing potential sponsors. My aim is to secure maximum funding to ensure we are in the best possible position, with limited financial barriers, to plan events.  I genuinely believe I can help make next year’s experiences for everyone on this society memorable, and can’t wait to be a part of the committee!

Ananya Khurana

The Hindu Society epitomises the qualities that resonate with me the most: respect, diversity and teamwork. The most important skill a committee member and Sponsorship Officer in specific must possess is the skill of intricate communication. In my capacities as Head-Girl of a 15,000 student-strong school, Secretary-General of one of the largest MUNs in the Middle East, and an intern at EY, I have been exposed to the delicate world of communication and presentation. Thus I have learned the art of working with a dynamic group of people, team-building and resolution; all of which are key abilities to being a synergetic member of the committee. Having served as an FYR in the External Relations division at the Economist’s Society has allowed me to gain first-hand experience in terms of sponsorship meetings and getting them on board. This experience has thus led me to refine the aforementioned qualities, making me fit for the role of Sponsorship Officer. My vision for the Hindu Society in the scope of the role is to implement a reasonable number of initiatives, without affecting the running of current events in any form. Reaching out to alumni for sponsorships, socials and networking with sponsors, and the further addition of career-related sponsorships would allow the society to expand its community and outreach. These initiatives sound intriguing in print, but I understand, through experience, the significance of following through and implementing these innovative ideas.

Chirag Shah

Sponsorship is one of the main parts of society. If we can obtain more sponsors it will allow the society to have bigger and better events, and I believe that I will be a great person for this role. Incorporation with the other officer and the team we will try and bring new sponsors to Hindu society. I believe that I am a very charismatic individual and I love talking to people, so it will be easy for me to talk to corporate clients and other companies . I don't like to take no for an answer so I will try my best to get the best sponsors and the greatest possible deals to benefit our society. I am a team player and you can count on me to get a job done.

Rhea Shah

Hi, I’m Rhea and I’m running for sponsorship officer.

As a committed member of Hindu society, I believe sponsorship is a fundamental part of running successful large-scale events. Without funding, events would not be possible, and I want to be a part of creating an outstanding and unforgettable experience for the events in the coming year. I believe that my strengths of organisation, communication, and teamwork align well with the qualities for this role.

Having represented my school as a dance leader and finance director for my young enterprise team, worked as a student intern at Lloyds Bank, and attended several networking events, I have been involved in communicating and building relationships with others, which is key for securing sponsors and deals with several businesses. Undertaking these responsibilities has invaluably enhanced my interpersonal skills whilst giving me an appreciation of time management.

Having received sponsorships and brand deals on social media, I do have the experience of liaising with companies and negotiating appropriate contractual agreements, which have been successful. Fundraising events are a great way to encourage many to participate in our events and raise money for charity. If given this opportunity as a sponsorship officer, I hope to bring in more sponsors, which will allow us to host memorable events for you all.

Yash Nagargoje

Hi! My name is Yash Nagargoje, and I’m a first year computer science student from Mumbai. I am running to be this year’s sponsorship officer for Hindu Society. Accepting to be a first year representative this year was one of the best decisions I’ve ever taken. Hindu society vastly helped me introduce and celebrate my culture here at ucl. During my time as an FYR, I met incredible people and made  unforgettable memories with the Hindu society.

I know that I would be the perfect candidate for sponsorships this year as being a FYR provided me with relevant knowledge to lead the society. I’ll make sure to bring back all the well- known society events at a much larger level and organise networking events to help members connect with alumni and companies. When it comes to sponsorships, I was a part of the event outreach club during my time at high school and I can vouch for the fact that I have a lot of experience with outreach and communication.

Hence, I strongly believe that I would be able to lead the society efficiently and bring in valuable experience which will assist with the smooth functionality of the society.

Tanya Gupta

Namaste! I’m Tanya running to be the Sponsorship Officer. Given the opportunity, I would thoroughly commit myself in positively impacting the wealth of the society. I'm drawn to this role as sourcing maximum funds and upholding sponsor deals are undoubtably vital in creating a fantastic HinduSoc experience for the upcoming year, which given my skills and enthusiasm, I am certain I can do.

My experiences cement confidence in my skills to be successful as the Sponsorship Officer:

• An internship at the IEA equipped me in dealing with sizeable responsibility

• The McKinsey Leadership Academy taught me what it means to lead with intention

• SISU at Morgan Stanley and a spring week at Nomura demonstrates finance knowledge

• 2 years of experience in dealing with accounts as the Finance Director of a student start-up

As Sponsorship Officer I plan to;

• Generate the best deals with sponsor firms, making events bigger and better by creating an attractive sponsorship package with the Marketing team

• Expand funding in order to branch out financial support to a wider variety of events

• Prioritise collaboration over competition with fellow societies to maximise sponsor funding

Beyond deal-making, resilience and commitment are vital as a Sponsorship Officer, both qualities I pride myself in. Therefore, with this in combination with some fun of course, I believe I'd make a great fit for this role!

Rahul Suren

Hey! I’m Rahul, and I’d love to be your Sponsorship Officer next year. I joined HSOC as an FYR and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of such well organised events such as Diwali Ball and Rangeela. This also meant that I understand the importance of having cooperative and high quality sponsors in order to fund these events. Through my networking these past few years I have been able to develop the skills necessary in bringing in sponsors for the society. Specifically, my communication skills which will undoubtedly be imperative in sourcing businesses. I am also familiar with many local businesses which can be very useful to HSOC.

I’m looking forward to seeing HSOC evolve and maintain our well-earned title of the best community at UCL. I hope I’ve gained your vote and can’t wait to meet you all next year!

Shivansh Tibrewala

I would like to run for the Hindu Society Committee Member because it’s a society I belong to by default. In my first year, I have actively attended their events and resolved to be a bigger part of it in my coming years at university. I believe that this year, I will be able to contribute and maintain the society's legacy with bigger involvement, collaboration and reach to the audience.

I have had the experience to work closely with various organisations, and with my experience as the FYR of the engineering society, I have an insight into dealing with representatives of many established companies. I am applying for the role of Sponsorship Officer, as I believe I can contribute to it extensively and appeal to sponsors by sharing the ideology of the society. This role helps take the society forward and make it more visible in university and outside. I can’t wait to see how it will evolve, and with the opportunity to hold this position, I can assure you won’t be disappointed.
