Friends of Médecins sans Frontières Society: President

I am passionate about improving health in the corners of the world that need it the most through humanistic medicine. During my time as a member of Friends of MSF in my undergraduate chapter, I collaborated with a group of passionate students on fundraising projects for nations where there is a lack of healthcare and health infrastructure. I also listened to providers working with MSF and others in the field of global health share their insights on their fieldwork and on pathways to improving healthcare services in under-resourced nations. In addition, I have experience working on global health initiatives through GlobeMed, an organization devoted to improving healthcare access and equity in developing nations. Beyond health and medicine, I am passionate about advocating for refugee communities. I have gotten involved in RefuNet, a tutoring service for refugee youths, and the Refugee Community Kitchen, a non-profit that provides meal services to displaced individuals. These experiences have allowed me to broaden my horizons and learn of the health and socioeconomic challenges faced by those from under-resourced countries. I hope to carry these experiences with me and lead Friends of MSF here at UCL. I am in the postgraduate Population Health programme and will attend medical school when my MS is complete. I intend to devote my career to finding ways of bridging the gaps in healthcare provision across the world as a physician and leader in the field of global health.
