Teodora Margaritova

Hi, I am Teodora Margaritova, and this year I had the pleasure of being European Horizons’ welfare officer. I’d like to contribute to EuH once again by utilizing my leadership qualities, organization skills and approachability as next year’s president. My vision is to create a balance between events providing members with policy-writing experience, and socials for networking and establishing personal connections with other future EU decision makers.

This year I organized the social events: the inter-societal cocktail reception, the upcoming pub social & end-of-year social. By implementing members’ feedback, I managed to deliver a diverse social events at high-quality venues at affordable prices. My ideas for next year include a winter reception, spring ball, and regularly occurring pub nights; I would happily do them with other politics societies, as I have this year.

I would like to manage the organization of policy-writing workshops to match this year’s standard, while increasing their frequency and topic range: from migration to environmental to cultural policy. Thereby, I’d provide members with the tools to critically evaluate issues concerning policy makers. It is a priority of mine to maintain a high engagement of our chapter with events organized by EuH to establish connections with members of other chapters and influential speakers in the sphere of policy making.

Jai A Britto

Hello! I’m Jai, a first-year History student

In an age of climate crisis, weapons of mass destruction and global aid, institutions and individuals can impact lives globally. I believe we must understand this power and interrogate the ways to best utilise it. EuH provides an unmatched way for students to not only do just this but influence change

My agenda

  • Debates: members apply & are supported by professors/world-class experts
  • Regular talks & panels with leaders/experts, gained partly through the international EuH e.g Alumni Portfolio Dir works at European Commission, Executive Dir works at World Economic Forum
  • Regular informal discussions lead by committee members
  • trip to an international EuH conference and organise one in London
  • create a team for European policy competition
  • Induction programmes for new members
  • Start newsletter: updates from UCL & international organisation and broadcast events e.g. Competitions and publication deadlines
  • Update website: add calendar with all events, terminology section and info to activities section

My experience:

  • First Year Rep: knowledge of committee’s inner-workings. Helped organise/attended most events.
  • Official school newspaper editor and PiTV: contacted businesses accounting and securing profits, leading section editors, articles on transnational relations
  • Head Student Team
  • Worked with NGO Widows for Peace Through Democracy and Project Rousseau
