Eurasian Business Society: President

Hi, my name is Misha. I am running for president at the most difficult time for all Russian-speaking students, but I see how this turbulent time also provides us with opportunities to create long-term connections, enhance our problem-solving skills and adapt to the Western way of life. I believe that EBS can be a platform that will unite the Russian-speaking community, support students and help them seize these opportunities.

That's why I, as president of EBS, will do the following:

1. I will organize networking sessions, where Russian-speaking students will be able to meet the employers, explore career paths, get advice from recruiters and create a resume corresponding to the new reality in which we all now live.

2. I will use the knowledge and experience of previous committees to maintain and expand ties with the Russian-speaking community in London, including building up inter-university collaboration and resuming partnerships with the ZIMA magazine and the Afisha London.

3. I will focus on inviting speakers who have achieved a lot in their profession in the UK/Europe, are ready to share their experience and can give Russian-speaking students advice on how to succeed in the West.

4. I will make sure that EBS always supports its members and stands for the rights and well-being of all Russian-speaking students.

I believe that together we will overcome all the challenges of this historical period and come out of it strong, self-sufficient and successful!

Hi everyone, I'm Alexander, a second year Management Science student running for president of EBS. I want to play an active part of the success and growth of EBS this year. Having chaired my school's Business Society and Russian Society for two years and spent time over the pandemic completing internships with Mail.ru Group and Active Funds, I'm confident that I can bring together all the skills needed for our senior committee to smash the next year in EBS.

Some of my main plans are:

• Collaborate with neighbouring Russian Societies (LSE, KCL, QM) to pool budgets for bigger events and to attract higher profile speakers to seminars. This partnership between universities will also open the possibility for a league of fun inter-society competitions.

• More socials - The best way of growing EBS and making it more inclusive to students from any degree is by making the social events side of the society more regular and well-known across the whole of UCL.

• And finally for everyone, I will host an EBS Conference Fair next academic year, as we successfully did some time ago and I believe I am best equipped to lead EBS for the next year and make EBS the largest Russian Business society across all of the UK universities.

Dear members,

My name is Arsenii Shilkin and I am running for President of the Eurasian Business Society 2022/23. I joined EBS as a member of the Speaker Relations Team in September 2021. As a whole, it has been a very successful year for the society, and our division in particular. Despite the global pandemic, we have organised some incredible in-person events with renowned and interesting speakers such as Fedor Ovchinnikov (CEO of Dodo Pizza), Dmitry Glukhovsky (bestselling author), Natalia Sindeeva (CEO of Dozhd TV channel) and many others. 

For me, as I am sure for many of you, EBS has always been about a welcoming and supportive community. However, with the devastating events recently unfolding in Ukraine, this community has witnessed a catastrophe we have never seen before. EBS goal was always and will remain to unite all Russian-speaking students at UCL, and it is now more important than ever to do so. Therefore, as a potential EBS President, in the new academic year, I  am determined to concentrate my time and efforts on trying to rebuild the sense of unity and trust between us all.

Let EBS continue to unite!
