The fields of Economics and Finance are vital in today's world. Having the chance to join a society that promotes and imparts such knowledge, whilst expanding your network is beyond beneficial. I am standing today because I truly believe in what this society can achieve under thoughtful leadership. Running for Vice President of Marketing would allow me to try and contribute to the rebuilding of our society's name by bringing the focus back on the many remarkable events planned. Having for the past year been the marketing executive at a student led news blog, I would bring experience with me to be able to promote and handle the society's activities in creative ways. With years of debating participation, I have developed communication skills that would allow me to liaise with any of our guest speakers, whilst also understanding the content of these talks/workshops being a PPE student, in order to properly be able to share them with the public. I hope to gain an even larger outreach by retouching the newsletter and creating more exciting posts for people to develop further interest, I would focus on projects like developing a more interactive platform for our audience to connect with. I am eager to help cultivate EFS and evolve its marketing strategies, so that the rest of UCL may see the great potential I sense in this society. Thank you!

Zara Mahesh Ratnani

Hi everyone! My name is Zara, and I am running for the role of VP of Marketing! I believe that I am capable of taking on this position as my past experiences have equipped me with skills that would enable me to flourish in developing the marketing aspect of the EFS society. Being a Social Media Manager of a local preschool in my hometown, along with my internship as a marketing strategist at a textile company in Indonesia have improved my creativity, designing and editing skills.

If elected as VP of Marketing, I strive to holistically improve the marketing materials on the society’s social media platforms by ensuring that all opportunities are promoted effectively in visually appealing ways. I also aim to:

  1. Produce educational content on social media platforms that provide valuable insights to members regarding the world of finance (such as career tips, application processes for internships and jobs, general knowledge regarding finance)
  2. Provide members with posts displaying opportunities such as competitions, career insights, online and in-person events
  3. Introduce Q&A sessions and informative discussions for members to increase their understanding on all sectors of economics and finance
  4. Strengthen the society’s branding by expanding social media presence on different platforms

As a goal-oriented individual, I hope to be the next Marketing VP so I can help enhance the society’s presence and benefit all members of the society.

Kenson F Chung

Being the charity committee prefect and the president of the Psychology society of my high school, one of its most popular societies with over 50 active members, I routinely organised weekly talks, social events and sales. All these roles have sharpened my marketing, communication and time management skills.

I am extremely proficient in combining Canva, Photoshop and Procreate to produce eye-catching, high-quality and time-efficient advertisements, having created one per week for my previous roles. This skill stems from my long-term interest in design and the arts, having started studying visual arts from the age of 5. This means that I am fit for creating all of the promotional material for the society, including posters, leaflets, presentations and more.

Additionally, to effectively advertise these events, I have developed the abilities to give clear and concise descriptions of our events in a convincing manner on social media.

Finally, I am very skilled at web design using Figma and Adobe XD, having consistently practiced and created websites/apps in the last two years. Although it may not be directly relevant to this position, this background has made me acutely aware to design details and how to adapt based on the user demographic.
