Economics and Finance Society: Treasurer

Hi everyone, I’m Niharika Lal, a first year Economics student running for the post of treasurer at EFS. I consider it to be a rich experience to get the opportunity of managing the society’s funds and carrying out administrative work. I am eager to make negotiations for the budget with the department to conduct unforgettable events throughout the year. I am confident about my strategic and good communicational skills, and I believe that they can be put to the right use. I believe I have a good sense of judgement regarding funds allocation and hence I can advise the Vice Presidents where and when funds can be saved/ put for a better cause. I’m convinced that I can plan all the events efficiently for the society and work towards achieving common goals.

If I’m elected as your Treasurer, I aim to achieve 3 main goals:

• Start a fundraising initiative, both to fund events for the society and with the view to raise money and donate to charity if the fundraising was deemed successful enough.
• Reserve ample funds for events that attract a major proportion of the members.
• Plan all the events ahead of time and provide an overview of the event through social media/ EFS portal to ensure that members are well-informed.

Hi everyone.

I’m Shavak, a 2nd-year Economics student, and I’m running to be your next Treasurer at EFS.

In a sprawling careers society like ours, the Treasurer wields huge responsibility. Over recent years, EFS has been tarnished by scandal and members have been left bereft of both careers support and a like-minded community. Yet, I believe this challenge creates a significant opportunity as unspent funds have enlarged the year-on-year reserve. As we all rebuild EFS with a fresh ethos, prudent budgetary management is hence more imperative than ever. A well-allocated budget has the capacity to fund a transformative range of events & socials for all members.

As your treasurer, I thus guarantee to fortify the society’s finances.

Having assisted at a regional accountancy firm and excelled in the ‘Accounting for Business’ module this year, I have developed strong bookkeeping skills. As an analyst for the UCL M&A Group, I have developed an operational understanding of financial statements. Moreover, with an upcoming IB internship, I will further advance my financial accounting skills by the onset of the next academic year.

A home is supported principally by its foundation. With my integrity, passion, and experience, rest assured that the foundation of your home at EFS will be secure with me as Treasurer.

Next year, EFS must deliver for its members. The era of instability must meet its end, so vote for me to guarantee this transformation.

I’m a great candidate for the role of the treasurer. I am very good with financial accounts, due to not only my course teaching me it, but also work experience I have done at an accounting firm, for your guidance, I have already worked at MyDigitalAccounts. Accounting is something I find truly interesting, and it’s something that I’d consider as a future job - this experience would be highly beneficial for me to partake in and I’d commit all my effort to ensuring I work and not only a satisfactory level, but also one that exceeds expectations. 

I expect my self to consistently assist the president and other members of the society in all possible ways, regarding the money and funds of the society. I will take pride and derive joy from making Excel spreadsheets that will contain each and every transaction and method of payment which occurs in this fine society. 
 

I am strong minded, hard working and very charismatic. Along with my analytical skills and problem solving skills, I can assure the company accounts will be highly organised and accurate once I’m in charge. This is an opportunity that will be imperative in developing me into a business professional and I’m very determined and hungry to succeed. Hi, I'm Mark and I'd love to be next year's Treasurer of the EFS. 

I would be a great fit for this role as I have very good experience in financial control and budgeting. I am able to make each penny go much further than most people so that the society can get the most out of its budget and provide the most value possible to its members. From this, we'll be able to host better and more frequent events with our budget and gain access to opportunities that were previously unreachable. And of course, we'll be able to keep event costs low for members!

Another reason why I suit this role is that I'm very organised and have a good eye for detail. As a result of my clear and organised records, it will be very easy for future treasurers to take over, as I will have already built the majority of the infrastructure needed to track the society’s finances, and all that remains is for the information to be carefully filled out. When I see the numbers don’t add up, I use my eye for detail to meticulously look through the records and correct them.
