Hiya, I am running for the position of Secretary of the Hiking Club. I have not been member of the Club for long, but this brief time has been the best I have yet had at a society or club. I have fallen in love with the early weekend rises, the rolling English landscape and conversations with fellow hikers.
I am running for Secretary because I know that the Committee currently is working at the limit in order to enable weekly hikes and termly residentials. I am also conscious of the great demand of hikes in the UCL community and that not everyone can get a ticket to join a hike. Since there is a planned expansion in hikes to twice a week, I would love to be a part in making this happen so that more people get to have the enjoyment of mud, mud and more mud. As a Secretary, I would not only be involved in making sure that the work of other Committee members proceeds smoothly, but also in the planning of hikes when needed, and in responding to Club Members when they have questions and concerns. My work would also involve managing the website that holds a great potential to publicize the activities of the Club more broadly. I would also be involved, if only peripherally, in planning more socials so that even in-between hikes the Club is bustling with life.
I hope you will vote for me and allow me to contribute to the hiking community that has already given me so much joy and many experiences!
See you on the next well-trodden path towards adventure!
Hello hikers, I am Jerrie, and am currently a master's student running to be secretary for the hiking club. I would admit I am relatively new to the club, but having taken part in several hikes so far like the Yorkshire Dales residential trip (including injuring myself oops), every hike has been so much fun!!!
Whether that's meeting new people (first-timers or experienced hikers) or hiking the challenging incline under rainy conditions while witnessing the great nature, I have enjoyed every bit.
Therefore, I would like to run to be your secretary to help with the day-to-day running of the club with the aim of bringing a fresh perspective while contributing to leading safe and enjoyable hikes. Ultimately, providing the best experience for YOU, who makes the club one of the most popular and best in UCL.
Hi, I am Kangxin, people call me K! I am a Translational Neuroscience research master student and I would like run for secretary for the UCL hiking society.
I am currently a walk leader in the UCL hiking society. Leading is fun not only because I can enjoy hiking and the great views, but also I get to meet many of you - sometimes generating some interesting conversations! UCL hiking is perhaps one of the largest society at our university - with hikes sometimes getting to more than 100 people! Indeed, the correct managing is crucial, so everyone can actually enjoy the views, the hike and the good company.
I would love to have more responsibility in the committee and I believe my experience as a walk leader makes me more than capable for this role. As the secretary, I will be working alongside the rest of the committee to ensure the smooth occurrence of all weekly events, making sure that all members receive the correct hike details. I would love to contribute in the organising of some key big events and make sure we all get to have the best experience possible. I will be attentive to your queries on socials and in person, helping to answer your questions, raising your voices to the rest of the committe and most importantly incorporating your wishes into our activities!
