I’ve been cheering for about 1.5/2 years. I started in swansea and absolutely loved it! That’s why I decided to come join UCL lightning and am already loving it so excited to see what this year brings. I think I would be a great choice as captain as I’d like to think of myself as quite approachable and friendly! I’m good at seeing people strengths and weaknesses and love being that support system and encouraging everyone to make the routine hit. I feel I’m very good at handling situations maturely and I’m here to support any problems you guys may have, be that physical or mental. I’m very much looking forward to helping the coaches with the music and choreo of the routine. Few things I would be looking do, if I were to be voted as captain. One idea I had is to implement a welfare emoji system where once month I put message on the chat to see how everyones doing to check in, and we could assign a blue heart for struggling a bit with uni/work, pink heart for feeling good ect. Just so we all feel a little less alone! I would also love to organise socials for the team! Could be bingo lingo, mini golf, movie nights, wine and cheese nights, organise a secret santa ect. I also noticed not a huge amount of us all go out on Wednesday sports night. I think it would be so fun if we all banned together dressed up in theme and head out. I would be more than happy to host a pres where we could all socialise and even people from other teams would be more than welcome to come. Thank you!

Hi, I’m Caitlin. I joined cheerleading last year, whilst new, I’ve been a competitive gymnast since age 8. My aim as team captain is to build a strong team based on respect and hard work. I want to ensure every member feels valued, heard and motivated.

CORE VALUES

  • Teamwork, each contribution is critical, every stunt and routine relies on seamless cooperation from all.
  • Inclusivity ensures every voice is heard; every member feels valued.
  • Excellence on the competition floor comes from hard work and dedication. A supportive and safe environment assists us to succeed.

OBJECTIVES

  • Team Spirit: to nurture a supportive atmosphere where camaraderie thrives. Social events are key; more than just sports night!
  • Training: team achieves when we train together, this being fundamental to our success.

WHAT I HAVE TO OFFER

  • Leadership, Planning and Communication skills, coaching gymnastics enabled my ability to organise a team but crucially to motivate. Leadership is not just steering a team but inspiring members to reach and surpass their goals.
  • Competition Experience means I am well versed in choreographing routines, the attention to detail required, and the pressures of performing under the spotlight on competition day.
  • Support: As a medical student, I’ve a keen understanding of mental and physical well-being. I’m approachable and willing to listen on any matter.

Thanks for considering me for captain. We’re a really strong team and I’m so excited for us to smash it this year!
