Dear fellow members,
As a penultimate year student studying Politics and International Relations, I have been a member of this society since my first year. In my position as the current Head of Events Officer of the Diplomatic Society, I have had the opportunity to plan and execute events that brought together diplomats, academics, and students to discuss pressing global issues. Among those, I have co-initiated two new series of informal academic events in an effort to provide our members direct access to diplomatic contacts and unite our society as a whole, an effort driving me to nominating myself for presidency this year.
Building on this experience, I am running for President with three concrete proposals to make the UCL Diplomatic Society even more impactful:
1. I want to establish a 1-1 mentorship scheme that pairs members with high ranking diplomats and ambassadors to learn about diplomacy, international relations, and career development.
2. A trip to political institutions in Brussels to gain first-hand experience in the functioning of the European Union and its affiliated institutions.
3. Expand networks and deepen relationships with London Diplomatic Societies
Having worked closely with the committee, it is of personal importance to me to build up on our society’s high standard and provide even more invaluable opportunities for our members to enter the diplomatic realm. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to working with all of you soon.
