Hey! I’m Seb, a Statistics student and bass player, currently in first year.
I am running for Treasurer as I would love to contribute to Live Music Society in a fresh way.
Since joining UCL, Live Music has offered me quality experiences to develop my musicianship as well as providing a great community of like-minded people who I can now call my friends.
As Treasurer, I would ensure the society’s money is looked after responsibly and is used in a way I deem to be beneficial for its members.
Relevant experience includes my former job in a music shop making me familiar with the business side of things as well as a competent knowledge of equipment so appropriate purchases could be approved. I also take Accounting For Business this term so I’m no stranger to a spreadsheet!
Thanks for reading my nomination and hopefully you think I’d be a good fit for Treasurer.
Hi! My name is Nick, I am a third year Physics student and I am running for treasurer of the UCL Live Music Society.
I have been a member of the society for over two years, and in that time it has brought me so many unforgettable memories and lifelong friendships. That is why I decided to give back to this amazing society by, hopefully, taking on the responsibility of being next year’s treasurer.
As a physics student, I am good with numbers and very comfortable using spreadsheets, so I will be able to fulfil my duties as treasurer with ease.
My goal as a treasurer, outside of the position's usual responsibilities, will be to grow the society by striving to make it as open, appealing, and welcoming to newcomers as possible, while still improving the experience of returning members. I have a few ideas about how to improve society, and I believe that, as treasurer, I will have the opportunity to positively impact the society.
These include:
- Purchasing 2 Line 6 Helix LT guitar pedalboards to be added to the main gig setup, and to be used in Rhapsody and/or any other live music society shows.
- Purchasing wired In-Ear Monitor packs to be added to the main gig setup. This will allow performers to plug in their IEMs during gigs/open mics.
- Replacing the SPR drumkit’s cymbals as well as its Hi-Hat stand.
I hope that this has convinced you to vote for me, and I look forward to seeing you at the next event! :)
I am Adrian, a first year Biomedical Sciences student running for Treasurer of Live Music Society. I am always been enthusiastic about live music and the events that the society holds. I hope to get more involved in the society by joining the committee. As an organized, responsive and adaptable person, I believe I could perform well the duties of a treasurer.
I am aware that treasurer of Live Music society might have a heavier workload compared to other societies. On top of light and sound equipment expenses for regular gigs and performances, Live Music also holds a grand Rhapsody concert at Bloomsbury Theatre every year which requires a detailed budget. I am confident that I can manage the financial backbone of the society by ensuring sufficient income and spending them wisely to bring high-quality events for our members.
Since I am a very responsive and approachable person, I would welcome other committee raising up issues regarding expenses and budgets. I would carefully listen to your demands and try my best to accommodate your event ideas while ensuring that we can make ends meet.
My 2+ years of experiences in logistics and event planning on budget at secondary school under unpredictable COVID restrictions in Hong Kong, I have also learnt to be adaptable and plan flexibly in financial planning.
