Daniel Lavrentyev

My name is Daniel Lavrentyev and I am running for a position of the President of UCL Kazakh Society.

This year I have been a part of our society’s committee, more specifically the events team. This has helped me to learn how the society is run from the inside and allowed me to understand what can be improved. I also already have experience in leading a society, as I was the Kazakh Society president in Concord College. I have many plans for the future of the society and here are my goals for the next year:

  • Increase the number and the variety of social events
  • Improve the Career Panels by including professionals from Kazakhstan
  • Improve cooperation between all University Kazakh Societies in England by creating a Kazakh Society Guild
  • Collaborate with educational institutes and organisations in Kazakhstan
  • Introduce questionnaires
  • Improve the sense of camaraderie in the society and enable better communication between the committee and all our society’s members

I have many more goals for future, but this are the main things I want to focus on as, hopefully, a future UCL Kazakh Society President.

I am aware of the amount of work, pressure and responsibility this position comes with, but I am prepared to do all the work in order to improve our society and represent Kazakhstan in the best possible way. Therefore, I truly believe I am a suitable candidate for this position.

Feel free to contact at [email protected].

Assiya Kapparova

It is a truly great opportunity for all of us to study in the world’s top university like UCL. It’s even greater luck that so many people who share the same homeland and affection for Kazakhstan are studying at UCL. By being given this opportunity, it’s our choice whether to get the best out of it. UCL Kazakh Society unites us and that empowers us to do great things and make lifelong memories.

I am very open and responsible person. Most importantly, I Enjoy what I Do, I do what I enjoy to make sure I do my best. My main goal as a President is to do my best to make UCL students from Kazakhstan enjoy their time in London, gain experiences that would be a pleasure and useful tool in the future. On top of that, my first experience of organising social this February showed that any extra profit from events is a remarkable opportunity to contribute directly to our home country by sending it to charity funds e.g. Saby, ASARUME and organising charity events together across Kazakhstan.

To make next year both productive and entertaining, there is a list of events, including Socials dedicated to the beginning of the YEAR, Independence Day, Christmas, Women’s Day, etc; Charity Fairs during Christmas and Nauryz; annual meeting with The Ambassador Of Kazakhstan and JOB FAIR. I am looking forward to having Q&A type talks with English and Russian speaking speakers. Movie, Game, Karaoke Nights are also listed and aim to make us become closer.
