K-POP Society: Treasurer

Hi all, I am Pasta. I am currently a second year student studying mechanical engineering with business finance, and I am nominating myself for the treasurer position.

As a treasurer, I aim to make sure that the society is running the best that it can. I will do this by managing the cash flow and utilising resources effectively. This year I had the opportunity to assist in directing a musical show, and this involved allocating the budget for each part of the show and keeping track of spending on equipment, props etc. This experience, along with knowledge from my studies, would make me suitable for this role, and also helping out in showcases. I would also assist other members of the society to keep everyone happy and keep everything running smoothly.

For me, kpop is a common interest which really bonds people together, and many of us have a special connection to it. I have made many friends and memories with kpop society, and hopefully many more in the next year. If I were to be elected, it would be a great opportunity for me to share my love for kpop with others, and represent a society which means a lot to me.

I am truly passionate about being involved in the production and running of Kpop Society's activities and showcases, especially in financial terms. I believe I can do this part well, due to my experience as being a treasurer for both my high school and college committee.

Hey Everyone! I’m Karla Yang from South Korea, running to be your next Treasurer of UCL KPOP society! I am currently a second-year Information Management for Business student. Simply, studying business management and IT (such as programming). I grew up listening to KPOP. Dancing is my way to relieve stress and I have enjoyed doing girl groups’ dance covers with my friends. Skills I have as a Treasurer: Ready to manage limited budgets, be picky with numbers!

Working experience in a financial service company (3 months)-input companies’ sustainability data

Studied-Accounting/ SQL(Creating, modifying Database)

Leadership & Strong Responsibility:
I have been an Academic Representative during my foundation year at King's. I collected international student's feedback on the quality of their education and voiced their opinions during meetings with uni staff. Because of this, I have developed my communication skills with students so that I can best understand their needs. Also, last year, I held online Korean sessions on a weekly basis. Class materials were prepared every week. This shows how responsible I am when the tasks are given. 

I reckon myself as a person that has patience and looks into details carefully, which are critical characteristics for a treasurer. Also, I have previous experiences dealing with financial work for the coffee shop in my high school. For example, I did budgeting on the raw materials needed for daily operation and was involved in price-setting works. So, I am familiar with necessary financial tools such as excel and spreadsheets. Besides all the practical skills, my major helps me build a theoretical basis for being a treasurer. I have been studying economics and business management for four years that I am confident with the knowledge about how to be a reliable treasurer for society. Nonetheless, I am still not professional at doing financial work for such a big society so this is also a challenge for me. But I want to take this as an opportunity for myself to improve and gain more experience. With the passion and knowledge I have toward K-pop society, I am ready to dedicate myself to this role and grow with everyone.
