With the tumultuous conditions the financial markets have been facing the last couple of years, the case of being involved in the markets emerges stronger than any other point in history. In my vision, UCLIF acts as a launchpad not only for the absorption of educational material surrounding currently discussed topics in the financial markets, but also as a tool for expanding your network as a member. These research tasks, like equity research reports, can be transformed into a competitive setting by creating fixed groups and rating the reports based on quality of material. Perhaps winners of competitions like these could receive preferred access to next year's applications, front row seats at events and so on.

Having participated in the Finance Conference, I personally found the experience very informative. Not only were there a group of talented students with a shared common interest, but the quality of the speakers and the content delivered was incredible. Insights were relevant to the modern business landscape, but they emphasised errors in their approaches and how their philosophies evolved as they matured into leading top managers. For me, it is talks like this that illuminate the reality of working in a rapid-pace environment like the realm of finance, and I will most definitely be attempting to increase exposure for our Society Members to these industry experts!

Next year will be fun, so nominate me and hop on the bandwagon!
