The reason why I am applying for this position is because as a PIR student I am extremely interested in the field of international relations specifically. I am certain that becoming part of it will offer me many opportunities to create a networking base both with fellow members, as well as our guests. Moreover, I have taken part in some of International Relations Society's academic events before and I would love to take part in their organization both because I am a member of this society, as well as because I am a responsible, focused and passionate person. Another reason I would like to become part of this society is because I want to have the opportunity to help organise the various events throughout the year and be able to give helpful feedback to advance the society.

I have previously hosted film screenings at my student accommodation. I have also taken part in volunteering at Interact Triumph in Bucharest. I started by organising my first event in a committee formed by 12 members in order to raise funds for the charitable cause at Center for Children with Disabilities Orşova where we took part in a wide range of tasks split among the committee members such as finding a theme for the event, a location, sponsors, and promoting the event in order to reach a target audience and convincing them to contribute with a minimum donation to the cause while enjoying the activities prepared. We raised a sum of over €1000 by the end of the event.

I would love to continue being part of the Academic Events Team. I enjoyed being part of the team last year, and as a Politics and IR student, I really care about the aim of the society - promoting awareness and appreciation for international affairs. Helping students to access objective information about current events and diverse perspectives on international relations is extremely important in today's political climate. I really like that the society organizes a variety of academic events, such as speaker events and embassy visits, as well as social events, to achieve this. I would love to stay involved now that I have a better understanding of how to organize hese events.
