Hi, my name is Harsil. I’m a first-year biomedical student, but really a medic at heart. Being a part of Indian society has been the highlight of my year, from socials to club nights it has allowed me to stay connected with the culture and bond with like-minded people. As a sociable person, I am great at forming networks and connections which goes hand in hand with the role of social secretary.

From my time as a pharmacy advisor at Boots, I gained excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as holding the responsibility of providing accurate medication to patients. I was an integral part of the pharmacy team for a year, which provided me with many skills that I’ll bring as social secretary. I’ve also volunteered at my local mandir and was involved in organising their annual Holi event. My role consisted of managing my team and delegating tasks based on the strengths of the individuals involved.

As social secretary, I’d introduce new social events such as games nights, gym taster sessions and intersociety competitive events. I’ve already hosted a movie night for the society, so I believe that experience will translate to future events. During freshers, one of the main things that welcomed me into university was the families scheme, hence why I would like to prioritise that further in my time on committee.

Vote for me for social secretary, and I can guarantee I’ll be sober enough to make sure that no FYR ends up in A&E. Thank you.
